This was narrated by my staff nurse who is afflicted by Rheumatoid Arthritis, a very bad one in fact. Things had come to such a passe that she had become bed ridden and in one such moments of despair she made a vow to God or a deal you can say, that if the Almighty made her better, she would visit the Jhandewalan Mandir on foot from home (which was around 7-8 kms away) for prayers the moment she became able to walk about. Well she improved and the day arrived when as promised she decided to visit the temple to pay her respects . The walk was a bit tiring but still she managed. What she was dreading was the long queue that she had to suffer in order to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the Temple. The rush there was infamous. But to her amazement when she reached the temple, there was no rush and around only ten persons or so were in front of her in the queue. The darshan was over in minutes. She did not have to undergo those long agonising moments of waiting in serpentine queues. She was convinced that it was divine intervention while I smiling inwards made a mental note- Paranormal Activity
The second story was again narrated to me by another staff nurse of mine. She narrated how once she had some relatives visiting her late afternoon from outside town and how they were keen for a Darshan in the Jhandewalan Mandir during Navratras, a period which sees quite a rush. They still decided to make an attempt and reached the gates of the Temple. The rush was huge. Now during festival periods they issue special passes for Darshan for family members, trustees, VIPs etc. which is very hard to get your hands on one and that which has validity of a single day only. (Now this one, I have to admit impressed me quite a lot. ) My nurse and her relatives were dilly dallying near the gate wondering what next to do when a swanky car drew near them, and after a few moments, a respectable and kind looking man, spoke to them asking if they might like to have a pass for six persons? He did not want it to go to waste hence had come there specially to give it to someone who might need it. As luck would have it, they were exactly six . Thanking profusely they took the passes and had their darshan which had almost seemed impossible a few moments back
Aren't they inspiring? Well here's the final one. There is no dearth of such stories actually but if I go on and on, the post would be never ending because there is never an end to faith and so should it be. Faith is one of the most motivating force in world and many people survive by it alone. If by any decree , it is to end one day, then I shiver to think about the fate of this faith less world. So to faith , my toast goes. But in conclusion I will of course narrate this story told to me by a pharmacist about his cousin. She was married and was trying for a job desperately. She was also a devotee of Lord Shiva and never used to miss her weekly visit to the temple and her fast and the daily worship. In spite of such penance, she was still far away from her desired job. In fact to add to her worries she conceived . Though a bit disappointed she carried on with her pregnancy , but what luck ! after her baby boy was born, she got selected for a job that suited her profile and by the time she joined it after the necessary formalities, the baby was well over 8 months. How lucky she had been as everything had fallen in place like in a jigsaw puzzle. Everything has a time of it's own to happen and the lord knows the best so we should patiently wait for our turn- that was the unanimous conclusion finally. Old wives' tales or real life stories , but they indeed left a kind of very warm , fuzzy feeling in my heart. Maybe the world isn't that bad. its just about faith!
Explanations- Some terms may need explaining hence I am explaining hurriedly and in brief about them.
Navratras- They are an auspicious period , a festival or worship which are twice a year, to worship the Mother Goddess Durga Devi and her nine forms.
Jhandewalan Temple- A famous temple of Goddess Durga in Delhi
Darshan- or a glimpse of the Idol to offer prayers.

U know my views on the paranormal... i never experienced anything paranormal :-)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you didn't experience it because you didn't want to . ;P
ReplyDeleteor people who experienced just extrapolated their experiences?
ReplyDeleteExtrapolated!!! Phew. Thanks for that new term I learned. All credits to you. :)
ReplyDeleteComing back to your supposition yes they did. and that is faith! its all kind of psychological. They want to believe so, because they find strength in their beliefs. The more the blind faith , more miraculous are the results. In fact their beliefs are not the Miracles, but the power they derived from their beliefs were in fact supernatural
well maybe. I seem to be handicapped at summoning blind faith so i can be fairly sure i won't be experiencing anything supernatural :)
ReplyDeleteyou will experience it and it will be called Love! :P that in fact is the most paranormal experience which exists in this world
ReplyDeleteOh!! then i have experienced the paranormal at least 100 times till now :-)
